July 2016 Newsletter

14th July 2016

Dear Parents/Carers

I anticipate that this will be my last letter to you after 10 years as head teacher at Arboretum.  I would like to thank you for your support on the journey we have been on and I am happy to leave the school in a good place and in the hands of Mr. Paul Scott.  Please pop in to say goodbye on Friday at 2.45 pm in hall 1.

Retiring with me is Mrs Coughlan and also leaving us are Mrs Bethell to a promoted post as Assistant Head teacher and Mrs Taylor to a promoted post as SENCo.  We wish them all well for the future.

During the summer weather, when your children go out to play, please supervise them at all times.  It is much safer for them to play in the garden or with an adult in the park; playing on the street is dangerous and we have had several children recently experience problems as a result of this.

Our non uniform day on July 1st raised £225.12. The most raised on one day!!  In total this year we have raised £1753.13  which includes the Syria Relief we did in October.  The total raised for school is £1220.43.  Thank you for your support and thank you to Miss Ford for organising the events.

Please check lost property this week if your child has lost anything.  Any lost property not collected by 3.15 pm on July 26th will be recycled.

Many of you will have noticed the paramedics and ambulance in the playground on Friday.  This was a member of staff taken seriously ill after touching something made using a product from a packet which ‘may contain nuts.’  Please do not send anything into school which is either nuts, made from nuts or which may contain nuts.

Please look at www.DerbyDaysOut.co.uk for ideas about where to take your children during the holidays.

Yours sincerely,

A. Cruickshank

Head Teacher
