SUMMER TIME FUN!

This summer we had record numbers of children attending our summer holiday clubs organised by Mr Malooq and Mr Pemberton. They all had great fun while keeping active. Look out for information on our clubs next holiday, then come along and join in the fun!

WELCOME TO ARBORETUM!

We would like to say “welcome back” to all our children who are returning to Arboretum this year, and a big Arboretum welcome to our new starters in Nursery and Reception. We hope you settle in quickly and have an amazing time at Arboretum.

We also welcome all our new staff:

Teachers - Miss Gilder, Miss Hussain and Mrs Credland

Teaching Assistants - Mrs Stocks, Mrs Ridgard, Mrs Humphrey and Mrs Neal.

We would also like to say congratulations to Mrs Bullock (Miss Booth) and Mrs Credland (Miss Beecham) who got married during the holidays, and send our best wishes to Mrs Quenby who has started her maternity leave.

RESULTS

I am delighted to share with you our really pleasing results this year across the school. The children and staff have worked extremely hard together to produce these results, and I am very proud of them.

KS1 SATS - Percentage of children who reached the Expected Standard - Reading 61%, Writing 64%, Maths 72%

SATS - Percentage of children who reached the Expected Standard - Reading 65%, Writing 69%, Maths 68%. 64% of pupils reached the expected standard in all three subjects. Mr Scott

ACADEMISATION NEWS

Last year, we consulted on our proposal to become an academy with the DDAT Multi Academy Trust. Following this, and taking into consideration all the viewpoints expressed, the Governors took the decision to pursue this proposal. This has now been approved by the Department for Education, and we are now pleased to announce that we are moving forward with the conversion process, with a planned conversion date of 1st January 2019. Through all of this, our pupils are always our priority, and we can reassure parents that the day-to-day running of the school will be unaffected by the work to convert to academy status.

Thank you for your continued support, and please contact me if you have any questions. Mr Scott

SCHOOL DINNER NEWS

Nora, our catering manager, has had an operation during the holidays. We wish her a speedy recovery! In her absence, Michele Kelly is acting catering manager. Unfortunately the school’s mixer has broken, so while we are waiting for it to be repaired, there may be some changes to the puddings published on the school menu.
