Year 5/6 Tea Party

This week, Year 5 and 6 had great fun preparing for their fundraising tea party. Class 14 cooked rocky road brownies, Class 15 made cheesecake, Class 16 prepared sandwiches, Class 17 baked biscuits and Class 18 made and decorated cakes. They invited their families along to join in the tea party, and managed to raise £180 for their chosen charity "Heads Together". Wow! Well done Year 5/6!

Thank you to all the parents for coming along and supporting their children.

Y3/4 Visit to Cromford Mills

Year 3 and 4 enjoyed a fascinating visit to Cromford Mills, where they learned about life as "Children of the Mills". They dressed up as 18th century mill workers, and met Mr Clack, the Mill Manager, who told them all about life in the mill. They learned about cotton spinning through taking part in different activities. They also walked around Cromford village, which is part of the World Heritage site.

ATTENDANCE

Regular attendance at school is vital to help your child achieve to the best of their ability. It is now the time of year again when our children will be getting coughs and colds, but they should not miss out on their learning because of this.

Remember that children must be in class ready to start their learning by 8:55am. Any children who arrive after this time must go to the office so that they can be registered correctly.

Assertive Mentoring Meetings

Next week we will be holding our Assertive Mentoring meetings, when you will be able to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss their progress and how you can help to support their learning.

Tuesday 5th - Classes 1-8, 10-11, 14-18

Wednesday 6th - Classes 1-3, 9-18

Thursday 7th - Classes 4-9, 12-13

It is very important that you come along to these meetings - please speak to your child’s class teacher if you don’t have an appointment. All meetings will be in Hall 1.

Head Lice

Head lice are a normal part of childhood. They are particularly common amongst primary school children, so it is important to check your child’s hair regularly, at least once a week, by combing with a fine tooth comb, and tie it back if it is long.

If you find any head lice, please treat them immediately and tell your child’s teacher. A pharmacist can advise you on the best way to treat them. If you ask about the "Pharmacy First" scheme, you may be able to get treatment free of charge - local pharmacies who offer this include Lloyds, Manor and Pear Tree Pharmacies.

Year 6 Sweatshirts

We have a few of the green 2017-18 Year 6 sweat-shirts left, in sizes 11-12 and 13. These are available for sale from the school office on a "first come, first served" basis. They cost £7.50 each.
