KS1 Winter Musical

Last Friday, 150 key stage 1 children performed their annual winter musical. ‘The Very Lonely Astronaut’ was written especially for the children, who have been learning about space this term. The musical was all about an astronaut who was stuck on the moon because his rocket had broken. Children from Arboretum helped him to continue his travels by teaching him all about the Arboretum STARS (Supportive, Teamwork, Aspirational, Resilience and Successful). The children put on an awesome performance: speaking, singing, dancing and playing their instruments perfectly. We were delighted with the comments that parents left, saying that the performance was incredible and they look forward to it every year.

Thank you so much to everyone who helped us to put on our show. We can’t wait to do another one next year!

Anti-Bullying Poster Competition

During Anti-Bully and Kindness week, pupils in school designed posters. We had lots of amazing entries, but the winners were:

KS1 - Ambar (7), Mahveen (8), Musa (8)

LKS2 - Jessica (11), Nailah (10), Honey (10)

UKS2 - Denissa (15), Madina (14), Alma (18)

Well done to the winners, and to everyone who took part.

CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY
Friday 15th December will be a non-uniform day, with the theme of “Christmas Jumpers”.
Don’t forget your donation of 50p, which goes towards treats for the children.

A Visit from St Nicholas

This week St Nicholas visited all the children, with an Angel and Black Pete. This is a traditional celebration that our Czech and Slovak children enjoy on 6th December. They asked whether the children had been good all year, and invited them to perform a song, dance or special skill. The children were then given a sweet as a treat. We all enjoyed finding out about how another culture celebrates.

Thank you to Mrs Pearson and Ms Sykorova for arranging this event.

CHRISTMAS DINNER
Our special Christmas dinner will be on
Friday 15th December. All children are welcome to stay - if your child does not usually have school dinners, please send in £1.80 in an envelope with their name and class on.

(Reception KS1 and children eligible for Free School Meals do not need to pay).

Thank you to all the parents who came along to the meetings this week; they are an important part of your child’s learning. We hope you found them useful. If you were not able to see your child’s teacher this week, please speak to them to arrange an appointment. Mrs Worrall will arrange new meetings with Class 2 parents when she is back at school.
