FUN IN KEY STAGE 1

Last Friday Key Stage 1 held a picnic to celebrate their new Food topic. The children made their own sandwiches, iced biscuits and chopped fruit. They then served the picnic to their parents.

Class 6 had fun this week making lava lamps.

DANGER!
We have noticed situations around school where parents are putting their own or other people’s children in danger, so want to remind you of important ways to keep children safe.
CAR SEATS
By law, all children under 12 years old and 135cm must use an appropriate car seat, even for the shortest journeys, and must be correctly strapped in at all times.
For more information go to www.childcarseats.org.uk
PARKING
Please park sensibly and legally outside school. Do not stop in the road to let your child out, or wait on the zigzag lines. This is illegal and makes the area dangerous for other parents and children, as well as obstructing other road users. PLEASE KEEP OUR CHILDREN SAFE!

PANTOMIME

This year the pantomime is coming

to Arboretum, so that all our children will be able to enjoy it!

The show will be "Aladdin" and will be on Friday 19th January.

KS2 will watch in the morning;

KS1, Reception and Nursery will

watch in the afternoon.

"Oh, no they won’t!"

"Oh, yes they will!"

ITALIAN LUNCH

Next Thursday, 18th January, we will be having special Italian -themed lunch, with Pizza and chips or pasta and ice-cream, all in a take-away container. All children are welcome. Please note, Hall 1 and 2 will have the same menu for this week only.

A big Arboretum welcome to Miss Noon who will be looking after Class 3 until Mrs Allsopp returns from her maternity leave.

ATTENDANCE
Everyday your child learns something new in all subjects; one missed session can result in failure to progress at the same speed as the rest of the class. Absence prevents your child from doing as well as they could in their learning and can also have an impact on their social interaction with their peers.
If your child has a temperature you can give Calpol in the morning and send them to school with a water bottle. Inform the class teacher and we will call you if your child's condition gets worse.
If your child is taking any medication, eg. Antibiotics, we have trained people who can administer these. Just come to the Office with the medication with the label from the chemist with their name on it; you will then need to fill in and sign a permission form.
Our Attendance policy states that whenever a child is absent, parents must inform school by 9.20am. Either phone 01332 291140 option 1 and leave a message, or come to the Office in person. If we don't hear from you, the absence will be recorded as unauthorised.
If your child is off for more then two days, medical evidence is essential. It can be an appointment card, text message, letter or prescription.
No holidays or other trips will be authorised during term time. However if you decide to go despite this, you must fill in a Leave of Absence form.
Every unauthorised absence is reported to the EWO (Educational Welfare Officer), who may issue a Penalty Notice.
