Goodbye Mrs Burdis

This week we say goodbye to Mrs Burdis, our Learning Mentor who looks after behaviour and attendance. We would like to say a big thank you to Mrs Burdis for all her hard work and dedication during the 5 years that she has worked at Arboretum, and wish her all the best in her new job. We will miss you Mrs Burdis!

ARBORETUM IS A MOBILE-FREE SCHOOL

Mobile phones must not be used inside school, or anywhere on the playground.

PUPIL UPDATE FORMS

Congratulations to Aaliya Hussain in Class 10, who was picked to win the prize for returning the Pupil update form.

This week we have sent forms out again to anyone who has not already returned their form. It is very important that we have up-to-date information on all the children, so if you receive a form, please check it and send it back as soon as possible.

KEEPING CHILDREN SAFE ONLINE

Many children love YouTube, watching funny or educational videos, and maybe even uploading videos of their own. However, it is important that parents are aware of the possible dangers of YouTube, for example being able to watch violent or unpleasant videos, or receiving cruel or nasty comments. Children under 13 should not have their own YouTube account, and parents should keep an eye on what their children watch and what they do on YouTube. Our children are too young to understand the dangers themselves, so we must work with them to make sure they stay safe. To see a useful video giving tips on how to keep your child safe on YouTube, go to https://www.commonsensemedia.org/videos/5-ways-to-make-youtube-safer-for-kids Or go to the “Parents” section of the school’s website, www.arboretum.derby.sch.uk and look on the “Useful Information” page for links to this and other useful sites.

Non-Uniform Day

Our next fundraising non-uniform day is on

Friday 3rd February

The theme is

INSIDE OUT AND BACK TO FRONT

Use your imagination to think of funny and unusual ways to wear your clothes - but make sure they are comfortable, because you will have to wear them all day!

Please remember to bring your 50p donation.

TEA & TOAST

Thank you to everyone who came along to Tea & Toast on Wednesday. Our next one will be held on Wednesday 15th March.

COLD WEATHER

In the cold weather, please make sure that your child has a warm, waterproof coat, and hat, scarf and gloves as necessary to keep them warm when they go outside at playtimes.

They need:
