GOLDEN TABLE

At a recent School Council meeting, the children discussed lunchtimes and how they could be improved. As a result of their suggestions, we have made some improvements to Golden Table, which is used as a reward for children who have shown outstanding behaviour at lunchtimes. Golden Table will now happen twice a week - on Monday in Hall 1 and Friday in Hall 2. Four children will be selected by the Midday Supervisors, and they will receive an invitation to join the next Golden Table. If they do not normally stay for lunch, they will have the option to change, and if they normally pay for lunch it will be free. They will also be able to choose a friend to join them on Golden Table. Mr Daintith hosted the first of the new-style Golden Tables in Hall 2 for the winners Nazish, Ihtiandrs, Erik and Jawaria, together with their friends.

POETRY WINNER

A big congratulations to Sabahat Ahmad from Class 16 who won second prize in a Derby-wide competition to write a poem for Holocaust Memorial Day. He attended the presentation evening with his parents and was presented with a certificate and a book token. His poem was displayed on the big screen for everyone to see. Miss Allen also attended and said “It was a wonderful evening and I felt very proud.”

If you would like to read Sabahat’s poem for yourself, go to

LOST PROPERTY

We have lots of lost property in school. Please check that your child has all their clothes - if not, come to the Glass Corridor next to Class 11, where the lost property shelves are located.

Please make sure that all your child’s uniform, PE kit, glasses and anything else that they bring to school has their name on it. Then we can help to get it back to them if they lose it.

Food, Glorious Food

KS1 have been enjoying our topic of 'Food, Glorious Food'. This week, children have been thinking about children who may not have all the food they want to eat. We have been looking at World War 2 and children have learnt about rationing. This week, children have been developing their 'empathy' skills and learning about children in Syria. The children have decided that they would like to fundraise to help children less fortunate than themselves. Thank you in advance for all your support for the fundraising activities they have planned. We are so proud of the ideas they have had and the enthusiasm they have shown for helping others.

NURSERY CLOTHES

Nursery are running very low on their spare clothes. Please can you check at home and if you have any clothes that belong to nursery could you bring them back as soon as possible.

Many thanks,

Nursery staff
