Year 3 and 4 Visit the Museum
Over the last two weeks all the Year 3 and 4 classes have visited Derby Museum to learn more about the Vikings to support their topic work this term. They had the chance to see and handle lots of Viking artefacts, and even made “Thor’s hammers” out of clay. The children also wrote messages and letters using the Viking alphabet. Parents in year 3 and 4 will be invited at the end of the term to explore Year 3/4's Viking exhibition where you will be able to look at the children's handmade artefacts.
Next week is Science Week at Arboretum, and the children will be taking part in lots of science-based activities. We will also be having some visitors to help us build Bug Hotels to attract wildlife to our school grounds.
We would like all our parents to come in and join in with their child’s learning - your child’s class teacher will tell you when you are invited into school to join in with their class activity.
Crime Scene - do not cross
In year 1 and 2 they had a crime to solve! Who ate the animal inspector? Was it a herbivore, carnivore or omnivore?
Last week our Year 5 and 6 children visited Bistrot Pierre in Derby for a French lunch. We were delighted to receive an email from a lady who had been in the restaurant on two of the days, saying how well-behaved our children had been. She said “They were a credit to the school, especially when they said 'Au revoir' to staff as they left”. Well done Year 5/6 , we are very proud of you!
Celebration of Dance
On Thursday a group of children from the after school dance club went to the Riverside Centre to join with other schools from across the city in a “Celebration of Dance”. They had practised hard in dance club, and did an amazing dance to “We’re all in this Together” from “High School Musical”. Everyone had a great time!
Mothers’ Day is on Sunday 26th March, so Miss Ford and her helpers will be selling presents. They will be in the year 3/4 corridor every break time, starting on Monday, until they are all sold out.
The gifts cost either £1, £2 or £3.
Come and buy a present for the special person who looks after you
