A VERY SPECIAL VISITOR

Mr Petr Torak, a Police Detective, visited the school on Wednesday 22nd March to talk to pupils about his experiences. Pupils enjoyed hearing his tales and having the opportunity to wear a police helmet. They were inspired to hear about his Roma upbringing and how they too can aspire to be anything they wish to be if they work hard and show a good attitude.

Spelling competition

Pupils are busy learning their spellings, from the sheets they bought a few weeks ago, ready for tests in class next week. The class champions will then go head to head in a spelling bee at the end of this term April 5th.

The staff joined in with their own spelling competition too and the 6 winners were: Mrs Hardy, Mrs Rutland, Miss Thornton, Mrs Baker, Mrs Emerson and Mrs Ashford. Well done to them all ! School council have organised this and have raised £65.

WIN A TABLET COMPUTER!

Pupil Premium is extra funding from the Government to help support children from low income families and help them to achieve their full potential.  We get funding for each child who is eligible for Income-related Free School Meals, or has been in the last 6 years.   Therefore, we would like all parents to fill in a free school meals for to check whether they qualify.

All forms completed and returned to school by Friday, 7th April will be entered into a draw  for the chance to win a tablet.

GIRLS’ FOOTBALL

This week it was the turn of the Year 5/6 to represent the school at a football tournament.  The girls narrowly missed out on a quarter final place in the Derby County Ladies FC football tournament. They won 4 games and lost 3, finishing 3rd in their group.  Well done girls!

Both year 3/4 and 5/6 girls have represented the school proudly and we encourage parents to continue to send their children to clubs to enhance their chances of representing the school in the future.

Quality Mark

The basic skills Quality Mark is an award that celebrates and supports continuous improvement in literacy and numeracy.  It is valid for 3 years.

We are proud to say that we have now been awarded the Quality Mark for the fourth time, so we have now received a special 10 year award.
