On Monday and Tuesday, we held Poetry Recitals where children from each class learnt and performed a poem of their choice. Mr Scott, Mr Daintith, Mrs Hardy and Mrs Wynn had a hard time judging the entries and choosing winners, which were all of an extremely high standard. Well done to our class winners: Class 3, Class 7, Class 10, Class 14 and Class 17 who all won certificates and poetry books. We also had some fantastic original poetry from KS1 and KS2; well done to Eemaan, Zahra, Zoya, Halima, Latifah, Sophia, Owais and Hunain, who all performed their pieces during the recitals. The judges were also looking out for fantastic performers, who all won tickets to a Meet an Author event (part of Derby Book Festival). Well done to Class 14, who won tickets to the year 5/6 event to meet Marcia Williams, and all the children who won tickets to meet Sarah McIntyre and Philip Reeve.
Our Governors have decided that they would like to explore academy status further, and so we have begun consultation with the entire school community to find out your views about us becoming an academy and joining DDAT (Derby Diocesan Academy Trust). You should have received a letter in your child’s bookbag giving more information about this - please ask at the office if you need another copy.
Please come along to one of our consultation meetings on Wednesday 14th June, at either 9:15am or 5:00pm, to find out more about it and have your say.
You can also let us know your views by returning the form at the end of the letter, or by taking the online survey, before 30th June.
This week the nursery children have been reading the poem 'My Shadow' by Robert Louis Stevenson.
They enjoyed going on shadow hunts around school and experimenting with the torches to create their own shadow art.
Please fill out your parent questionnaire about reading by the 16th June, and hand back to your child’s teacher for your chance to win £20 book vouchers
We still have a few places available for children who will be 3 years old by 31st August, to start in September. Please contact the Office if you would like a place.
