ANIMAL ELECTIONS

Last week, Arboretum learned about the election process by holding our own elections. We had four animal parties - Butterflies, Dolphins, Elephants and Lions. Each party put together their manifesto, and campaigned hard to persuade children to vote for them. They then presented in front of the school, before everyone had a chance to cast their votes. On Friday morning, representatives of each party gathered in the Board Room to count the votes, then Miss Fryer, the Returning Officer, announced the results in assembly:

Butterfly - 81 votes

Dolphin - 136 votes

Elephant - 80 votes

Lion - 206 votes

The Lion party were therefore elected to represent Arboretum. Well done Lions!

PARKING

Please help to keep our children safe by parking away from the school entrances when picking up or dropping off your child.

DO NOT park or wait on double yellow lines or zigzag lines.

Assertive Mentoring Meetings

On the 27th, 28th and 29th June we will be holding our Assertive Mentoring meetings, for you to meet with your child’s teacher and discuss their progress and how you can help to support their learning. Please return your form by Wednesday 21st June to book your appointment.

MUSICAL WORKSHOPS

This week, a group of children were invited to meet with children from other Derby schools for an exciting musical experience day. They had fun making music, and also visited the “Weeping Window” display at Derby Silk Mill.

PETS

This week, the nursery children have been learning about pets. They asked members of staff about their pets, and baked special dog biscuits for their dogs. Oscar and Monty really enjoyed their special treats!
