COMMUNITY PARTY IN THE PARK

On Saturday we had our first "Community Party in the Park", arranged jointly with other schools in the area. The sun shone, and lots of people came along to enjoy the stalls, rides, food and entertainment that had been arranged. It was wonderful to see so many people coming together and enjoying themselves. Thank you to everyone who came along, to everyone who donated things for the baskets and all the staff who gave up their time to make it happen.

MUSEUM TRIP

On the Inset Day, Mrs Pearson and Ms Sykorova organised a trip to visit some of the interesting places in Derby. They visited Derby Art Gallery and Pickford House and had a picnic by the Silk Mill Museum. Everyone had great fun!

POPPIES

Across the school, all the children have been doing activities inspired by poppies. In Nursery they read "Poppy and the Blooms" by Fiona Woodcock, and the children created their own representations of poppies and other flowers.

STAFF v YEAR 6

Last week saw the excitement of the annual Staff versus Year 6 rounders and football matches. Well done to everyone who took part and tried their best, especially in the hot weather, and congratulations to the Staff, who were victorious!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

We wish everyone a relaxing and enjoyable summer, and look forward to seeing the children back in school in September:

Thursday 6th September for Classes 1 to 18

Friday 7th September for existing Nursery children.

New starters to Nursery will be given a specific start date, so that we can introduce them gradually.

FAREWELL YEAR 6!

On Tuesday, we will say goodbye to our current Year 6 children. We wish them all the best in their new schools, and hope that they build on the foundations that we have laid at Arboretum Primary School.

Remember always to “Reach for the Stars!”

FUNDRAISING

We have had another brilliant year for fundraising. Our last non uniform day raised £190.53, and in total all the fundraising activities that Miss Ford has organised for school funds have raised £965.01.

We have also had a number of other fundraising activities for other charities such as WWF, the Syrian Appeal Sport Relief and Children in Need, raising £1051.

This means that the total amount for all the fund raising is £2016.01.

Thank you to all the parents for their continued support, and to Miss Ford and all the other staff who organised all the events.

CLUBS NEXT TERM

Breakfast Club will run as normal from Thursday 6th September at 8:00am.

After School clubs will start week commencing 17th September. A letter will be produced in September showing the new timetable so that you can sign up - please see Mr Malooq or pick up a copy outside the Office.

SCHOOL COUNCIL VISIT

Our School Council consists of representatives from across the school, and meets regularly through the year to represent the views of the children and make suggestions about things that happen in school. As a reward for all their hard work this year, Mr Daintith and Miss Chambers took them for lunch at Pizza Hut. They all had a great time!

HANDWRITING COMPETITION

We held a competition to find the children who had the best handwriting throughout their work. They were nominated by their teachers, then Mrs Wynn chose the four winners, who she took to Waterstones Bookshop to choose their prizes. Well done to the winners: Rachana, Ismail, Kabsha and Minahil and a huge thank you to Mrs Wynn for providing the prizes.
