YEAR 6 SLEEPOVER

  1. Friday 14th July the Year 6 children had an amazing sleepover in school. They played games on the field, then watched a movie and ate pizza and chips.

“We arrived at 7.30pm and went back home at 8.00am. It felt very unusual!” Rajib said “it was a nice feeling when we got to go to sleep at 4.00am in the morning.” “Thank you to Mr Scott, Mr Daintith and Miss Allen for staying.” Malaika “It was the best memory of the year” stated Laiba “This is a fantastic opportunity to explore school” Safaa

GOODBYE AND GOOD LUCK!

We say farewell to everyone who is leaving Arboretum this summer. We hope all our Year 6 children “Reach for the Stars” in their new schools. We wish Mrs Chan, Miss Hussain and Miss Gilder all the best in their new jobs. Mrs Weldon, Miss Brown, Mrs Tildesley & Miss Beecham are all leaving us to train to be teachers. We wish them good luck in their studies and we think they will all make brilliant teachers! We also look forward to seeing Mrs Tildesley and Miss Beecham in September as they will be doing their placements with us.

STAFF v YEAR 6 FOOTBALL MATCHES

We held our annual staff versus Year 6 football match. There were two mixed male/female teams who played half a match each. It was a tightly fought match, but the staff won 5-4 overall. Well done to everyone who played!

Don’t forget to

take home all belongings including PE kit, lunch boxes and water bottles and check the glass corridor for lost property. Anything left in school will be disposed of.

HEAD FOR THE DAY

As a special reward, Luis, Nazish and Abdul-Ahad were chosen by their year groups to spend a day with Mr Scott to find out what it was like to be a Head Teacher.

HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES

Children who have new experiences outside school and whose parents learn with them achieve more in school. We would like you to encourage your children’s learning by involving them in a range of activities during the holiday period.

Mrs Nisha has a pack containing information about lot of holiday activities, some of them free, that children can attend. They all are easily accessible, and many are local to the community.

Activities are taking place at Markeaton Park, Arboretum Park, Guildhall Theatre, theIntu Centre, Peartree library, and The Quad to name a few.

See Mrs Nisha, or ask at the office for a copy. Alternatively, look on the “Newsletters” page of the school website:

Don’t forget the Animal Agents reading challenge at Pear Tree Library throughout the summer:
