Book Week - Waterstones Visits

Classes 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 14 and 17 visited Waterstones Bookshop this week.  It was very exciting, and each child was able to choose a book for themselves to encourage them to learn to love books and reading.

The following classes will be going to Waterstones

to buy a book this week:

Monday         Class 12 & 13

Tuesday         Class 15 & 16

Wednesday   Class  5 & 7

Thursday       Class 4

Please make sure all children have a suitable coat and shoes for their visit.

Year 5 & 6 - Biscuit with a Book

All Year 5 and 6 parents are invited to come and have a “biscuit with a book” with their child in class on Wednesday 19th October from 2.45pm till 3.15pm.  Please come to the school office at 2.40pm and you will be taken to your child’s class.  We look forward to seeing you!

BICYCLES IN SCHOOL

It’s great to see our children riding their bicycles to school, and we encourage as many children as possible to do this as it is very good for their health and fitness.

However, please remember that  for the safety of all the other people in school, bicycles MUST NOT be ridden on the playground or anywhere in the school grounds.  Please make sure that your child gets off their bike at the gates and walks it round to the bike shelter.

Mr Malooq’s Holiday Club

Mr Malooq will be running his popular holiday activities during half term from Monday 24th to Wednesday 26th October.  Forms to book these will be available from Monday 17th October from outside the Office, or from Mr Malooq.

Head Lice

Head lice are a normal part of childhood.  Although anyone can get head lice, they are particularly common amongst primary school children, who spend more time in close contact with their friends.

So it is important to check your child’s hair regularly, at least once a week, by combing with a fine tooth comb, and keep it tied back if it is long.

If you find any head lice, please treat them immediately and tell your child’s teacher.  A pharmacy can advise you on the best way to treat them.

Punctuality

Over the last week there have been a lot of children late for school, which disrupts the children’s learning.  The school gates are open from 8.30am to 8.55am so please make sure that  your child arrives at school at this time every day.  Make sure they get up on time, and leave plenty of time for your journey.  All late marks are recorded, and persistent lates will result in a meeting with the School Attendance Officer.

FUNDRAISING

Thank you to everyone who took part is our non-uniform day last week.  We raised £191.16  which will be used to buy fun things for the children.

And thank you to Miss Ford for organising it!
