Temporary Additional Needs Teaching Assistant
Do you have a passion to support additional needs children with varied ability levels? Are you looking for an exciting new role within a large, popular and thriving Inner City school? If so, and you can demonstrate that you are passionate about maximising our SEN children’s learning potential, then this role could be for you.
We are looking to appoint an experienced Additional Needs Teaching Assistant to support a Reception child in the classroom until the child leaves our school, dependent upon the continued availability of SEN funding.
You will be a qualified and experienced Additional/Special Needs Teaching Assistant who has recent experience within a primary school and a strong working knowledge of the primary curriculum. You will ideally have experience of working with children with physical and educational difficulties. You will be able to demonstrate resilience and calm in stressful situations, focussing on solutions with patience, kindness and empathy. Your previous experience of supporting similar pupils will help your understanding and confidence in supporting a child and their family in overcoming barriers to their learning.
Arboretum is a Good school, as confirmed at our recent Ofsted short inspection (November 2017). The inspectors felt that: “The pupils’ positive attitudes to learning and their respectful behaviour reflect the school’s values and the leaders’ good work to promote pupils’ personal development and welfare”.
We are a large 643 place primary (which includes 40 children in our 2 year old unit and 78 in our 3 year old nursery), with a rich ethnic mix of delightful and well-behaved children. Our modern school has recently been refurbished and extensively extended and sits in large attractive grounds. We pride ourselves in our caring ethos and the value we place in our dedicated and friendly staff teams. We are a popular school, and have a waiting list for most year groups. Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Assessment and testing of candidate’s suitability to work with children is an integral part of our selection process. An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will also be required for the successful candidate.
An informal visit to the school is warmly encouraged and welcomed. Please call the school Office on (01332) 291140 to find out more information.
Please include a covering letter with your application form, explaining why you would like to join the Arboretum Team. Applications may be posted, or emailed to email@example.com by the closing date.
