Monday 6th July 2020
Hello Year 5/6 parents, carers and children,
We can’t believe that it’s already time for another weekly newsletter – the days are certainly flying by now.
Here are some activities to try this week. If you haven’t already got one, don’t forget to pick up a new home learning pack this week which will be jam-packed with lots more learning and challenges to complete at home.
Literacy

Use the word of the day in some writing! Can you use it in a sentence that shows you are a Y5/6 wonderful writer? Have a look at the punctuation pyramid to challenge yourself and don’t forget fronted adverbials and conjunctions too!
Maths
This website has lots of fantastic games and challenges for all areas of the maths curriculum. Choose an area of Maths that you enjoy, like addition or fractions, then see how many activities you can complete!

Just for fun!
Having been in some form of lockdown for almost 4 months now, I bet that you have done lots of activities on this list. See how many you can already tick off and then challenge yourself to complete 5 that you haven’t done yet!
Can you beat Mrs Naylor’s family? They have managed to tick off 53 of these between them all!
Please refer to the pdf for a clear image!
Year 6 parents – please have a look at the School Toolkit website or download the app. There is lots of information from all of the different secondary schools, with advice to help prepare children for their new journey in September. You can also find lots of really useful videos, about questions or worries that you might have, on the BBC Bitesize website: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/tags/zh4wy9q/starting-secondary-school/1 .
Best wishes and hope to see you all soon,
The Year 5/6 Team
