Children’s attendance at school is vitally important to allow them to succeed and achieve their full potential.  To support this, we are looking to appoint an experienced Attendance Officer to monitor attendance within the school, then work with parents and other staff to ensure all children achieve excellent levels of attendance.  The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting children and families, with a professional manner that will enable them to build good relationships with parents, staff and outside agencies.  We are looking for an individual with experience of managing attendance within a school, who is organised and effective at managing their workload, with excellent IT skills.  The ability to speak a second language used by families in school (eg. Czech, Slovak, Roma, Kurdish, Urdu, Panjabi) is desirable, but not essential.

Arboretum is a Good school, as confirmed at our last Ofsted short inspection (November 2017). The inspectors felt that: “The pupils’ positive attitudes to learning and their respectful behaviour reflect the school’s values and the leaders’ good work to promote pupils’ personal development and welfare”.

We are a large 635 place primary (which includes 32 children in our 2 year old unit and 78 in our 3 year old nursery), with a rich ethnic mix of delightful and well-behaved children. Our modern school has recently been refurbished and extensively extended and sits in large attractive grounds.  We pride ourselves on our caring ethos and the value we place in our dedicated and friendly staff teams.  We are a popular school, and have a waiting list for most year groups.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Assessment and testing of candidate’s suitability to work with children is an integral part of our selection process. An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will also be required for the successful candidate.

Although we are unable to invite you to visit at this time, we would love to tell you more about our school and this opportunity.  If you wish to find out more, please call the school office on (01332) 291140 (term time only).

Please complete both the DDAT Support Staff application form and the Monitoring form.  Note that the correct forms must be completed, and that CVs or other methods of application will not be accepted.

Applications should preferably be emailed to  Posted applications will be accepted, but please note that the school will be closed for the holidays from 13th to 21st February, so do not post during this period.
