Forest School at Arboretum by Mr Davies

At Arboretum we are very lucky to have our own designated Forest School area and two fully trained Forest School leaders within school, Mrs Ferguson and Mr Davies. Forest School sessions are held every two weeks for a group of children of different ages who come from classes throughout school. It is a time of fun, exploration and learning new skills. The outdoor environment is an essential learning space for children, and the sessions are child led following their interests and allow them to play with each other imaginatively. This freedom helps children develop physically, mentally and spiritually as they get in touch with the original classroom- the outdoors! Learning that a stick doesn’t have to be a stick, it can be a digging tool, a pole for a den or even something to trap a goblin in! Alongside the free-flow imaginative play, we love to play more structured team building games together as well as allowing children to learn basic bushcraft and survival skills. We try to get outside in all but the worst of weathers to benefit from everything the outdoors has to offer!

'An inspirational process that offers children, young people and adults regular opportunities to achieve, develop confidence and self esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a local

woodland environment’
