Full-time Class Teacher – Adoption Leave

Employer: Derby Diocesan Academy Trust 2

Location:  Arboretum Primary School

Hours: Full Time

Salary: Main scale (M1-M6) + SEN allowance

Contract:  Fixed term to cover adoption leave

Age Range: Primary

Start Date: September 2023

Closing date:  9.00am Monday 5th June 2023

Interview:  Friday 17th June 2023

We are looking to appoint a hardworking, enthusiastic SEN Teacher with drive and energy to join our happy, lively, forward looking and successful school.  In return, we can offer you high quality professional development and the opportunity to be part of a team of teachers who regularly share best practice and learn from each other.  The post is temporary to cover adoption leave, starting in September 2023.

The successful candidate will have experience in, and a passion for, working with children with Special Educational Needs.  They will work with our Orchard Group, a small group of mixed age children with SEN, supported by a dedicated team of support staff. They will be based in the Pears group, for up to 10 children with a range of needs, from Year 3 to Year 6 - so a good knowledge of the KS1 and KS2 curriculum and teaching strategies would be desirable. A working knowledge of the pre key stage assessment framework and the engagement model would also be desirable. They will have the ability to differentiate the curriculum to meet the needs of the individual children in the group, within an inspiring and inclusive learning environment.  As this role requires experience of teaching children with special needs, it is not suited to an ECT position.

We are a large 643 place primary (which includes 32 children in our 2 year old unit and 78 in our 3 year old nursery), with a rich ethnic mix of delightful and well-behaved children. Our modern school has been refurbished and extensively extended and sits in large attractive grounds.  We pride ourselves on our caring ethos and the value we place in our dedicated and friendly staff teams.  We are a popular school, and have a waiting list for most year groups.

DDAT welcomes a diverse population of both children and staff and is committed to promoting and developing equality of opportunity in all its functions.

DDAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to satisfactory references, online checks, completion of a probationary period, pre-employment and Disclosure Barring Service checks. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.

We warmly invite prospective candidates to visit the school to find out more about us and the role.  To register your interest, call the school office on (01332) 291140 or email jobs@arboretum.derby.sch.uk .  Please also take a few minutes to watch our school video on our Welcome page of our website www.arboretum.derby.sch.uk to get a true flavour of Arboretum Primary School.
