Music FS2

In the Foundation Stage music is integral to the daily routine, songs and rhymes are sung throughout the day. They may be used as a link to the topic, or the story of the week; rhymes are used to reinforce learning, making it fun and engaging. For example: Days of the week song; counting to 10/20; 5 Little Ducks.

Instruments are used in the classroom and during outdoor learning, children are encouraged to explore the sounds that they make and how they can be changed.

By the end of FS2 the expectation is that:

  • Children sing songs, make music and dance, and experiment with ways of changing them.

  • They represent their own ideas, thoughts and feelings through…music…

FS2 perform a Nativity every year: they learn the songs, adding actions and movement.
