WELCOME BACK

It has been wonderful seeing all the children return to school and to meet so many of you as you have dropped off or picked up your children each day. Thank you for following our COVID guidelines which have been put in place to keep everyone as safe as possible. We have included lots of useful reminders on this newsletter to help you all follow the up to date guidance. The children have returned with very positive attitudes and it has been lovely to see so many smiley faces and to hear the sound of learning and laughter fill Arboretum once again – we have missed you all so much.

Mr Daintith

PIRATES!

Years 1 and 2 are learning about Pirates this term, so imagine how excited we were when pirate Aisha came to school. We made sure to hide all our treasure!! We've had some lovely pirate art and craft work completed over the summer holidays. We've loved the tea stained maps too! We can't wait to learn more about pirates. Keep bringing in your fabulous work from home.

COMING TO SCHOOL

Thank you for following our new procedures for coming into school.  Please come into the school grounds through the gate nearest to your child’s classroom, and follow any marked routes.  The gates will be open from 8:30 to 9:10am, so please ensure that you are not late so that your child can go straight into their classroom.  Please ensure that you stay 2m away from staff and other families, and do not stop to chat in the school grounds.  You may wear a face covering in the grounds if you wish.

COVID TESTING

Please remember that if anyone in your household shows symptoms of COVID 19 - a new, continuous cough, a high temperature or loss of taste or smell, then the whole household must isolate, and the affected person must take a test.  You can book a test online at https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test.  If  there are no suitable tests available, try again later - we are told that 6pm to 8pm is a good time to try.

If you don’t have internet access, you can ring 119 to book a test.

Please notify school immediately if your child or anyone in your household has COVID 19 symptoms, and tell us the results of any tests, so that we can help keep everyone safe.

If anyone has a positive test, the rest of their bubble will be notified and will need to self-isolate.

WONDERFUL HOLIDAY WORK

The teachers have loved welcoming the children back to school, and seeing all the wonderful work that they have done during the holidays to prepare for their new topics.

Years 3 and 4 are learning about Romans, and Mrs Cross has made a lovely display in Class 11 of all their work. She says “Thank you for all the hard work completed during lock down, particularly to Ayaan and Muhammad Moosa who completed lots of fantastic work.”

KEEPING SAFE

Please remember the government advice to help keep everyone safe:

Wash hands - keep washing your hands regularly

Cover face - wear a face covering in enclosed spaces

Make space - stay at least 2 metres apart - or 1 metre with a face covering or other precautions

FLU VACCINATIONS

It is important this year that as many people as possible get vaccinated against flu. The NHS will be offering free flu vaccinations in school for all children from Reception to Year 6.  They will be on 7th December.  You will need to complete on online consent form for your child to have the vaccination - go to  https://www.derbyshireandcityimms.co.uk/Forms/Flu

The code for Arboretum is DC146715

If you haven’t given consent before 7th December your child will not be able to have the vaccination.  If you have any questions, please see the website:  http://www.derbyshireschoolnurses.org.uk/parents/immunisations  or telephone the office.

NEW RULES - RULE OF SIX

From Monday the 14th September it is illegal to meet or gather socially, in a group of more than six people. This applies indoors and outside.  If there are people in the group from different households, they must stay 2 metres apart.  If you have more than six people in your household you can all be together, but can’t meet anyone else.

Groups of more than six are allowed for work, education and certain other reasons.  See  https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus for details.

Please ensure that you follow these guidelines to help prevent an increase in infections.

PE KIT

Please remember that your child must come to school wearing their PE kit on the days that they have PE.  Check your class newsletter to find out which days that is.  The teachers will send out text messages to remind you initially.

CLUBS

We continuing to review how we can offer breakfast and after school clubs in line with Government guidelines.  We hope to be able to offer after school clubs to selected year groups soon - look out for a letter from Mr Malooq.
