A Visit from St Nicholas
This week we had special visitors in school. St Nicholas, accompanied by an Angel and Black Pete, visited all the classes. They asked whether the children had been good all year, and invited them to perform a song, dance or special skill. The children were then rewarded with a treat. This is a traditional celebration that many of our Eastern European children enjoy on 6th December, and all the children enjoyed sharing in this treat.
Thank you to Mrs Pearson and Ms Sykorova for arranging this event.
SANTA’S LUCKY SQUARES
Don’t forget to bring your 50p to have a go at our Santa’s Lucky Squares game. One lucky child in each class will win a chocolate selection box. All money raised will go towards helping less fortunate families in our community.
Assertive Mentoring Meetings
Thank you to all the parents who came along to the meetings this week; they are an important part of your child’s learning. We hope you found them useful. If you were not able to see your child’s teacher this week, please speak to them to arrange an appointment.
Our special Christmas dinner will be on
Friday 14th December.
All children are welcome to stay - if your child does not usually have school dinners, please send in £1.80 in an envelope with their name, class and Christmas Dinner written on it. (Reception, KS1 and children eligible for Free School Meals do not need to pay).
It is very important that we have up-to-date information about your child, so please make sure you have returned their update form. This year we also have a new consent form to comply with GDPR requirements, so it is important that you complete this too. Please ask at the office if you need a new form.
CHRISTMAS JUMPER DAY
Friday 14th December will be a non-uniform day, with the theme of “Christmas Jumpers” for classes 4 –18 (Reception classes will have theirs on a different day, because of their performance).
You do not need to buy a special Christmas jumper, it could just be your favourite jumper, or perhaps decorated with tinsel.
Please don’t forget your donation of 50p.

ARBORETUM IS A MOBILE-FREE SCHOOL
Mobile phones must not be used inside school, on the playground or anywhere within the school grounds.
We have a number of cases of chicken pox in school at the moment, so please look out for the distinctive red, blister-like spots.
If your child has chicken-pox they will need to stay away from school until all the spots have crusted over, so that they don’t pass it on to more children.
We are continuing to work towards our academisation, and joining the DDAT multi-academy trust. We have agreed with them a revised conversion date of 1st February 2019, to enable us to ensure that we have all the administrative requirements in place for a smooth and seamless transition.
