June Newsletter 2022

Please note that school is closed tomorrow for an INSET day- we return to school on Monday 27th June.

Can I remind you all that the school gates close at 9am each morning.

Children in KS1 and KS2 have had a visit from Barbara at Normanton Library, to let them all know about this year's Summer Reading Challenge. Please see the poster and the link below for more information about some fantastic library events this summer.

We had some very special visitors in school this week who came to see all the children and plant a special tree.

See below their comments after the visit and the photos attached.

Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant and the Mayor of Derby have asked me to pass on their sincere thanks for making their visit so very special today.

The Lord Lieutenant and Mr Mayor particularly enjoyed speaking with your pupils and seeing the most wonderful work produced by them in such a vibrant setting.

To come to THE Arboretum school and plant a tree as part of the Queen's Green Canopy, so very close to the world's very first Arboretum, is truly special for us all as part of the Queen's Green Canopy in this remarkable year of the Platinum Jubilee.

Please do pass thanks onto all your staff and governor, who helped to make this visit so very interesting. It was a real pleasure for both the Lord Lieutenant and Mayor to interact with your pupils.

On behalf of the Queens Green Canopy thank you for agreeing to participate by planting your tree in this very special Platinum Jubilee Year.

With the very best of wishes to you all and on behalf of HM The Lord Lieutenant and The Mayor of Derby.

What a special honour this was for Arboretum - well done everyone!
