Hello KS1 parents, carers and children,
Welcome to newsletter 9. Mrs Parveen and Mrs Ablewhite here this week! It’s been lovely to speak to you all again and we’ve really enjoyed finding out what you’ve all been up to! Mrs Parveen had a wonderful lockdown Eid, we hope those who celebrated had a lovely Eid too!
Mrs Ablewhite’s children take part in a weekly quiz with their friends online. This week it was Leonie’s turn to be quizmaster and we thought that you might like to take part in the quiz too. A paper copy of the quiz will also be in this week’s learning pack. Answers will be revealed in next week’s newsletter!
Leonie’s quiz!
Picture round:
2.Who is this?
3.What is this animal called?
4.What is this shape called?
5.What fruit is this?
General Knowledge:
Here’s your learning diary for this week. Let’s get started…
Just a note: The summer crossword and Eid word search will be in next week’s paper packs of resources that you can pick up from school.
Monday 1st June 2020
Mrs Parveen wanted to learn a new skill and she thought why not learn British Sign Language (BSL)!
Natasha Lamb has a brilliant YouTube series where adults and children alike can learn BSL.
It’s perfect for beginners and can be done easily at home!
Check out lesson one below.

We would love you to share some of your new skills with us soon! Learning the alphabet was tricky but you can try spelling your name!
Tuesday 2nd June 2020
Put your maths skills to the test and get that brain warmed up! If you’re like me, and you love buying things then this game is for you! You can use your mathematical skills to buy toys from the virtual shop using the coins. You can even do this with your own money (make sure you ask your parents’ permission first)!

The Great Fire of London was a great topic to explore in year1 and 2! Mrs Parveen has found an awesome game we can play to test our amazing historical knowledge about the Great Fire of London! Click the link and explore and play the game! It’s great fun. Mrs Parveen’s favourite part was helping Tom use the fire equipment from 1666 to put out the fire!

Mrs Ablewhite was sent this lovely story and it helps children to understand that we all have problems and it’s always best to talk about them because it makes us all feel better when we do!

http://www.pobble365.com/
Mrs Parveen loves using pobble365 to find an interesting picture to spark ideas for writing super sentences! There are some weird and wonderful pictures that allow the children to use their imagination to create stories or sentences.
We know some of you have started scrapbooks/ storybooks during lockdown! We cannot wait to read your wonderful creative stories!
The weekend challenge:
Try the crossword with a cold ice-lolly in the sunshine this week! You could make the crossword competitive, play it in teams but make sure you just have fun!
