Monday 13th July 2020
Hello Year 1/2 parents, carers and children,
Newsletter number 15! This is the last newsletter that we will write as the summer holidays begin on Friday July 24th. The last teaching day is Wednesday 22nd July. We’ve had a lovely time teaching our little bubbles of 6 children. Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th July will be INSET days. Teachers will be in getting the classrooms ready for children to return in September, which will be such an exciting time. There’s a few photos of the lovely new classrooms so you can see that we’ve been working hard and making your classrooms such lovely places for you to return to.
But, just because the summer holidays are nearly here, doesn’t mean the learning has to stop. There are some summer challenges that you can complete. You will need to pick up paper copies of the maths, reading and writing challenges from school reception before we close.
For the art summer
These are the instructions:
Can you draw a picture or make a model to show: What I appreciate more in our world and how I would make the world a better place.
Models and pictures can include colour and use any materials you wish to use eg:felt tips, paint, collage etc
Remember to keep anything you make and bring it into school when you come back in September. Your new teacher will love to see what you’ve been up to.
For the reading summer
For some extra reading challenges this summer, have a look at The Reading Agency’s “Summer Reading Challenge” https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/
It’s been so great during these strange times to talk to you all on the phone, to share photos of our families with you and for you to share photos of yours. It’s really felt like being apart hasn’t been as challenging as it could have been.
All of the key stage 1 team would like to wish you a wonderful summer (hopefully we will have some sunny days – fingers crossed!). If you are currently year 1 you will move into year 2 in September and continue with the same team. If you are in year 2 now, you will move up to year 3 and become part of the year 3 and 4 team. Look out for letters from your new teachers.
Until September, with love from the Key Stage 1 team x
