Hello KS1 parents, carers and children,
Welcome to newsletter 5. You should have received a text message from your child’s class teacher this week, if you haven’t, don’’t worry you should receive one over the next few days. Please reply to this to let us know if the newsletter is helpful and if there is anything else we can do to help you continue doing a fantastic job helping your children learn at home.
We are exploring other ways of parents accessing work and will be putting out a text later this week to all parents
that will detail 3 new developments:
Mrs Allsopp has started her maternity leave now so I (Mrs Ferguson) will be covering any queries that Class 5 might have. We wish Mrs Allsopp a very happy maternity leave and we can’t wait to hear the exciting news about the safe arrival of her second child.
Thank you for the lovely texts we have received, it’s been lovely to hear from you all especially the text about making marbled cupcakes. Yum!
This week’s KS1 photo album
Have a look at the slideshow to see this week’s set of photographs from the key stage 1 team. This week we have a collection from Mrs Tivey, Mrs Parveen and Mrs Allsopp. We loved the pictures that Mrs Parveen sent of the mini mosque she has made for her little boy so he can learn all about Ramadan – may be try this yourself.
Wishing you and your families a very Happy Mubarak. May this special month bring joy, happiness and peace to you all during this difficult time. Stay blessed.

Today we’d like you to make sure you can quickly do all your maths facts:
* Number bonds to make 10 (10 + 0 = 10, 1 +9 = 10, 2 + 8= 10 continue the pattern).
* Use the facts to 10, to help with facts to 100 – 1 + 9 = 10 so 10 + 90 = 100 continue the pattern.
* Use the facts to 10, to help with facts to 20 (1 + 9 = 10 so 1 + 19 = 20, continue the pattern).
* 10 times table (forwards and backwards) Year 2 up to 1000
* 5 times table (forwards and backwards)
* 2 times table (forwards and backwards)
* Extra for Year 2: 3 and 4 times table (forwards and why not try backwards if you can)

Mrs Tivey’s children are doing this activity this week. Do as a house hunt – read each challenge out loud to your child/children and let them go and fetch something that matches the challenge. Ask them: ‘Why did you choose that?’
What a lovely activity to do together as we have more time.

After hearing some of you love baking, here is an easy recipe to try:
35g plain flour
2 tbsp cocoa powder
¼ teaspoon of baking powder
2 tbsp granulated sugar
1 tbsp mini chocolate chips
1. Mix ingredients in the biggest mug you have.
2. Mix in wet ingredients until there are no lumps.
3. Drop the chocolate chips on top in the middle.
4. Microwave on high for 70 seconds.
5. Ask an adult to take it out, as it will be very hot.
6. Take a photo to share at school.
