At Arboretum Primary School, we are committed to ensuring all our children fulfil their full potential. To support this, we are looking to appoint an experienced Pupil Support Officer to work with children to help them overcome barriers to learning, including attendance and behaviour issues. The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting children, with a professional manner that will enable them to build good relationships with parents, staff and outside agencies. We are looking for an individual with experience of supporting children within a school, who is organised and effective at managing their workload, with excellent IT skills.
Arboretum is a Good school, as confirmed at our last Ofsted short inspection (November 2017). The inspectors felt that: “The pupils’ positive attitudes to learning and their respectful behaviour reflect the school’s values and the leaders’ good work to promote pupils’ personal development and welfare”.
We are a large 643 place primary (which includes 32 children in our 2 year old unit and 78 in our 3 year old nursery), with a rich ethnic mix of delightful and well-behaved children. Our modern school has recently been refurbished and extensively extended and sits in large attractive grounds. We pride ourselves on our caring ethos and the value we place in our dedicated and friendly staff teams. We are a popular school, and have a waiting list for most year groups.
DDAT welcomes a diverse population of both children and staff and is committed to promoting and developing equality of opportunity in all its functions.
DDAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to satisfactory references, online checks, completion of a probationary period, pre-employment and Disclosure Barring Service checks. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily prevent an applicant from obtaining this post, as all cases are judged individually according to the nature of the role and information provided.
We warmly invite prospective candidates to visit the school to find out more about us and the role. To register your interest, please email jobs@arboretum.derby.sch.uk .
