Is your passion supporting primary age children with varied ability levels? Are you looking for an exciting new role within a large, popular and thriving Inner City school? If so, and you can demonstrate that you are passionate about maximising our children’s learning potential, then this role could be for you.

This is an exciting role for the right person to join our large, friendly and incredibly dedicated team of teaching assistants, supporting teaching staff and pupils across our School.  We require a qualified and experienced teaching assistant who ideally has recent experience within Foundation stage, with a strong working knowledge of the Early Years curriculum.

You will be assisting with supervision of the pupils in the classroom, in groups and 1:1 when required. There may also be an opportunity for the right person to undertake HLTA duties, covering for the teacher’s PPA and management time.  We use the Read Write Inc phonics scheme and so there may be opportunities for a suitable candidate to undertake RWInc training.

Arboretum is a Good school, as confirmed at our last Ofsted short inspection (November 2017). The inspectors felt that: “The pupils’ positive attitudes to learning and their respectful behaviour reflect the school’s values and the leaders’ good work to promote pupils’ personal development and welfare”.

We are a large 635 place primary (which includes 32 children in our 2 year old unit and 78 in our 3 year old nursery), with a rich ethnic mix of delightful and well-behaved children. Our modern school has recently been refurbished and extensively extended and sits in large attractive grounds.  We pride ourselves in our caring ethos and the value we place in our dedicated and friendly staff teams.  We are a popular school, and have a waiting list for most year groups.  Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.  Assessment and testing of candidate’s suitability to work with children is an integral part of our selection process.  An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will also be required for the successful candidate.

We warmly invite prospective candidates to visit the school to find out more about us and the role.  We will be offering an opportunity to have a tour with the head teacher on Thursday 1st September at 4pm. To register your interest, please call the school office on (01332) 291140 or email jobs@arboretum.derby.sch.uk . Please also take a few minutes to watch our school video on our Welcome page of our website www.arboretum.derby.sch.uk to get a true flavour of Arboretum Primary School.

For application details, please see attached, where you will find job details and application forms.  Please complete both the DDAT Support Staff application form and the Monitoring form.  Note that the correct forms must be completed, and that CVs or other methods of application will not be accepted.

Applications should be emailed to jobs@arboretum.derby.sch.uk
