UKS2 Weekly Newsletter 08.06.2020

                                                                                                                        Monday 8th June 2020

Dear Parents/Carers/children

Hello again from all your teachers and TA’s in year 5/6. We hope that you had a lovely half term and enjoyed the sunshine in your gardens or at the park and managed to enjoy time outdoors, safely, with your family. We can’t believe that it is June already: time really is flying by and we are hoping that we can be together with you soon. We really do miss all of you.

All the teachers have been working hard at home but we did manage to have some fun in the sun last week too. Mrs Naylor has managed to find more garden activities to entertain Finley and Freddie; we think that she should publish her own “Entertaining Toddlers” book. Miss Thornton has been creative with some of her old clothes and has converted them into a whole new wardrobe. Look out for her new creations when we return to school. Mrs Wright has embraced her inner youth and has been relaxing in the paddling pool with Abby and Anna; it must have looked very odd if anyone could see a 21 year old (Mrs Wright obviously), a 20 and 15 year old sitting in a paddling pool. Let’s hope no-one could see.

We all hope that you are picking up and completing your Home Learning Packs. There is another pack waiting for you when we return to school next week.

Some of you may be worrying about what school will look like when you return so here is a video that might help you to understand what it will be like. It will be different but you will know everyone in your bubble. The video is aimed at KS1 children but the ideas are all the same.

 Using the Internet

We are sure that many of you will be spending much more time than normal working and playing on your devices.

Remember to always use your devices in the same room as a parent or carer and always talk to an adult if you are worried or confused about anything that you see or hear online.

Have a go at completing the knowledge organiser below. It is a great reminder of how behave and keep safe online.

Space X and the International Space Centre

In September year 5 and 6 will learning all about Space and what an exciting time to be doing so. Mrs Wright is very excited as her family saw the International Space Centre as it passed over England last week. It looked like a very fast bright light.

You can use the link below to find out when it will next fly over Derby. Please ask your parent’s permission and look at the site together.

If you missed the launch of Space X, follow the link below. It is amazing

Don’t forget to pick up your home learning packs and well done for all the hard work that you are doing. We hope to see you all very soon. Keep safe.
