YEAR 3 AND YEAR 4 Monday 22nd June 2020
Hello LKS2 parents and carers,
I cannot believe we are now on newsletter number 12!
This week, I wondered how I could be positive with all the COVID-19 news and so much unrest and hate in the world at the moment. That was until I received an email from Mr. Daintith about a Big Summer Garden Party. On Saturday 1st August, the community of Derby, are being encouraged to have socially distanced garden/street parties, with friends, family and neighbours to celebrate World Friendship Day, (see the poster in the slideshow.) What a wonderful way to celebrate the community of Derby. If you would like to take part there will be free downloadable bunting packages for you to print off. If you do decide to take part, please take some photographs so you can share them with the year 3 and 4 team. I am sure we will be taking part.
Key stage 2 team update
All the staff continue to complete their online training and are busy making resources for the home learning packs. We are also beginning to plan and make resources for our return to school.
I have helped Mr Cross clean and paint the warehouse he will be moving into for work. We also went to the allotment and picked 2 ½ kg of strawberries in one go! I aim to make some strawberry jam.
Mrs Baker had a Zoom meeting with her book club, had two friends round for a cup of tea in the garden, weeded the street with her neighbour and also cut Mr Baker’s hair.
Mrs Ridgard has been to visit her in-laws in their garden and has been baking.
Mrs Bexon’s parents visited her in her garden. The last time she saw them was in March, so it was lovely for the whole family to meet up again. She also bought some new tropical fish and celebrated Father’s Day.
Miss Paget has been in school working with Mrs Credland in their ‘bubble,’ they have been creating some fantastic art work with the children.
Miss Allen has been doing lots of baking, reading and had a social distance meet up with her friends.
Miss Ford has been catching up with friends on the phone but the highlight of her week was celebrating her 60th birthday. She had a family BBQ in the garden to celebrate. Happy birthday Miss Ford!
Mrs Credland has been in school with Miss Paget in their ‘bubble’ and says she is having a fab time.
Mrs Dundon-Innis has been on a social distanced walk with her friends who also have babies and she celebrated Father’s Day by having a BBQ.
Mrs Iqbal made an amazing rainbow cake, went on a social distanced walk but unfortunately is suffering with toothache at the moment. We hope she can get some relief from it very soon.
Miss Worrall has been completing lots of home learning with her girls and completed craft activities for Father’s Day.
Until next week, keep looking after yourselves and please contact us if you need anything. We do all miss seeing you and can’t wait until we can be back in school.
When life gives you a hundred reasons to break down and cry, show life that you have a million reasons to smile and laugh. Stay strong.
