Newsletter 19th December 2024

Newsletter 19th December 2024

The last day of term brings Team Arboretum mixed emotions. We are so ready for a break after a busy term and are all looking forward to spending quality time with our families.
We also reach the end of an era; two key members of our team are leaving us for exciting new opportunities. We say farewell to Mrs Roberts, our phase lead for Y3/4 and to Mrs Linnecor, SENCO and Assistant Head. Both ladies have made a significant impact during their time at Arboretum; both starting with us as newly qualified teachers and moving on to leadership roles during their time with us. We wish them both every success in their new leadership roles. Their new schools will be very lucky to have them and this gives them a chance to touch many the lives of many more little people. They will both be missed by the whole school community! I’m certain they will be back to visit us soon, I’ve heard a rumour that the Summer picnic date is already in their diaries :)
Thanks you for your gifts and well wishes for the staff; these are very appreciated. We wish you and your families a restful break, a Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year. See you in 2025!
Kindest regards
Mrs Phillips

Attendance
We are currently at 92.1%
This terms attendance has been affected by the horrible bugs that have been in school for the last three weeks. Regardless, the winners of our pizza parties are:
EYFS -Davies, KS1—Milne, LKS2—Stine, UKS2—Blackman

OPAL corner
We are extremely proud to be an OPAL school with the highest award for outdoor play. Did you know that means that your children are experiencing some of the best lunchtime school play that there is in the UK!

We are committed to children at Arboretum enjoying outdoor play in every season. As we move from autumn to winter over this term the children will be enjoying seeing the changes that happen in the environment around them.

To enable children to enjoy playtime as much as possible in this season we need them dressed for success!
To dress for success every child needs:
- A warm (waterproof) coat
-Wellies (Bring in as soon as possible please!)
-Gloves
-Hat
Please clearly label these items with your child's name

Changes to lunchtimes
Mrs Ferguson has been working hard with Miss Nora and Miss Michelle to design a new exciting Spring menu. The menus with photographs have been posted to Class Dojo. Thank you for your feedback. Please keep this coming, we are keen to have your views.

The band system has now been rolled out to KS1 . We are hoping to put this into EYFS in the new year.

We will also be making some changes to the timings of lunch. This will mean that more time is spent on eating lunch and will release more staff to be outside when the children are playing. This will begin in week 2.
