COMPASS CHANGING LIVES

Compass Changing Lives is a mental health support service for children and young people in Derby and Derbyshire.

https://www.compass-uk.org/services/compass-changing-lives/

01332 315569

Compass can help with managing:

Low mood—anxiety—challenging behaviours—strong emotions—difficulties with managing change

They have delivered a series of assemblies to Year 4—Year 6 children all about ‘Change’. They have talked about the emotions we may feel when faced with change and what we can do to help manage them.

Transition Days

Next week we will having our Transition Days, when Year 6 children visit their new schools, and everyone else goes to their new classes.

These will be on Tuesday  4th and Thursday 6th July.

Children who are staying at Arboretum will be given a letter on Monday to tell them which class they will be in next year.  On Tuesday and Thursday they will need to go straight to their new class, and be collected from there at the end of the day.  On Wednesday and Friday they will go back to their current class.

We have loved welcoming you to our den building over the last two weeks.  The children (and staff) have had a great time.  Thank you too for all of your kind donations!

We look forward to seeing more of you next week for KS1 stay and play

Keeping safe

Over the last few weeks we have been teaching the children all about how to keep themselves safe. This has involved ‘Speak out, stay safe’ assemblies and learning about PANTS.

We are following guidance from the NSPCC.  There are many useful links for parents on their website, so please take a look  https://www.nspcc.org.uk/keeping-children-safe/support-for-parents/

Our Behaviour Policy

Our children have told us that sometimes they do not fully understand the behaviour policy in school, particularly around consequences.  We have worked with the school council to improve this and make it easier for children, staff, parents and carers to understand.  We have launched this in school and I am enclosing the new flow chart for you to discuss with your child.

I hope they will tell you all about the new rewards in school, particularly the wrist bands and Arboretum Way Ambassador. This is a very special, new award which we will be presenting later this term.  Look out for more information!

Remember if you need support Miss Hardy, Mrs Carvell, Mrs Linnecor, Mrs Ferguson and myself are always on hand to help.

Mrs Phillips
